Two spaces. Two approaches. One clear connection to Detroit.

On April 30, 2025, Black Diamond Designs installed a Detroit wall wrap in a break room and a series of photographic acrylic displays along a hallway at a Henry Ford medical building in downtown Detroit. Together they show how interior graphics can give a working building identity and character.

The break room wall wrap turns a neutral seating area into a Detroit-themed space.

A Detroit Wall Wrap for the Break Room

The break room’s feature wall carries a bright urban collage built around a large WELCOME TO DETROIT emblem. Brick textures, graffiti-inspired artwork and a circular city mark contrast sharply with the room’s neutral tables, chairs and flooring.

Instead of a blank wall, the room now has a focal point that reads from every seat. A Detroit wall wrap like this changes how a shared space feels without changing its layout, and it has to work at room scale, not just up close.

Standoff-Mounted Acrylic Photo Displays

The second part of the project runs along an interior corridor: large black-and-white photographic panels, including Detroit architecture with selective blue skies, an old pharmacy scene, a historic building and a laboratory image. Mounted on standoffs, the panels sit slightly off the wall for a clean, gallery-style presentation.

Hallway displays depend on consistent height, spacing and level alignment from panel to panel. Acrylic thickness, hardware specifications and printing process were not supplied, so we don’t claim them.

Two Installations, One Building

The Detroit wall wrap brings color and energy to a gathering space, while the monochrome acrylic panels bring a quieter, archival feel to circulation areas. Pairing the two gives the building a consistent local story in very different rooms. The photo below shows panels staged along the corridor during the project.

Planning a Similar Interior Project

Start with how each space is used. A break room can handle bold color and large type, while a corridor often benefits from calmer imagery and generous spacing. Surface condition, lighting and sightlines all shape the final layout, and a Detroit wall wrap or acrylic display series should be planned around them.
