Championship Traditions Deserve Championship-Level Graphics
At The University of Alabama, football tradition is everywhere. National championships, legendary players, and a culture built around preparation and performance are part of the Crimson Tide identity.
On November 18, 2016, Black Diamond Designs documented a University of Alabama graphics installation project that spanned three very different spaces: athletic training facility wall wraps, recruiting room graphics, and championship-themed graphics on a box truck’s roll-up rear door.
These projects transformed ordinary walls and vehicle surfaces into powerful visual representations of Alabama football history, player development, and championship tradition.
What Did the University of Alabama Graphics Installation Include?
- Athletic training wall graphics: A floor-to-ceiling Julio Jones mural with athletic training messaging on the adjoining wall.
- Recruiting room wall wrap: A full-wall United States map graphic with “The Process Begins Here” and “The Future Alabama Stars” typography.
- Championship box truck graphics: Crimson-and-black graphics on a University of Alabama box truck’s roll-up rear door, with a championship ring emblem and championship years.
Julio Jones Athletic Training Wall Graphics
One of the most striking elements of the project was an oversized wall mural featuring former Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones.
The installation incorporated a dramatic, floor-to-ceiling image of Jones in crimson training gear, accompanied by bold typography and athletic performance measurements, including a 4.39 40-yard dash and a 135-inch broad jump, displayed across the graphic.
The adjoining wall featured prominent athletic training messaging, reinforcing themes of preparation, effort, toughness, and player development. The finished environment connected the university’s football heritage with the daily work of developing athletes.
Large-format athlete graphics like these present specific installation challenges, and this part of the University of Alabama graphics installation was no exception. Oversized photographic imagery, adjoining wall panels, inside corners, and architectural features must come together to create a visually consistent environment. On a mural this size, a face, a number, or a line of type that drifts out of alignment at a corner is the first thing people notice.

Recruiting War Room Graphics: The Future of Alabama Football
Recruiting is a cornerstone of college athletics, and the environment surrounding that process plays an important role in communicating a program’s identity.
Another part of this University of Alabama graphics project featured an expansive recruiting room wall wrap.
The installation displayed the words “THE PROCESS BEGINS HERE” and “THE FUTURE ALABAMA STARS” above a large map of the United States, with oversized Alabama branding and a layered crimson-and-gray background.
The graphics extended across the wall behind a long work counter and around existing wall plates, incorporating the room’s features into the finished presentation.
This part of the University of Alabama graphics installation gave the recruiting space a cohesive Alabama football identity while emphasizing the national reach of the program’s recruiting efforts.
Alabama Football Championship Box Truck Graphics
This University of Alabama graphics project also included championship-themed artwork installed on the roll-up rear door of a University of Alabama box truck.
The photographs show a bold crimson-and-black design featuring an Alabama championship ring graphic surrounded by prominent championship years. Large white typography created a high-contrast display, turning the truck’s roll-up rear door into a visual celebration of the program’s history.
Installing graphics on a roll-up truck door involves unique considerations, including the horizontal panel sections, door hardware, and the way the door rolls open and closed.
