Location: The Saverio Building, Five Points South, Birmingham, Alabama
Project: Restaurant storefront window graphics

Our Role: Installation only

A storefront has one job on a busy street: make people stop.

In August 2024, Black Diamond Designs installed restaurant window graphics for Rocky’s Pizza & Italian Foods in Birmingham’s Five Points South. Bold lettering and a boxing-themed mascot turn both front windows into street-level branding.

Bold Lettering Built for the Street

White lettering with green outlines spells out Rocky’s Pizza & Italian Foods across the glass. The high-contrast treatment reads from the sidewalk and from passing cars, which is the first test of any restaurant window graphics.

A Boxer Mascot With Personality

The centerpiece is a boxing mascot with red gloves and patriotic shorts inside a colorful ring with turquoise ropes, along with Est. 1986 and Birmingham AL lettering. It gives the restaurant a memorable identity that plain lettering alone couldn’t.

Two Windows, One Coordinated Storefront

Both display windows carry matching boxer illustrations and lettering, so the storefront reads as one design. On restaurant window graphics, consistent height, spacing and alignment between windows matter as much as the artwork itself.

Why Restaurant Window Graphics Work

Restaurant window graphics put the brand in front of everyone who walks or drives by, without a new sign or façade work. They can carry a logo, a mascot, hours or a story, and they can be updated as the business changes. The specific film, production method and dimensions for this job were not supplied, so we don’t claim them.

Planning Restaurant Window Graphics

Good restaurant window graphics start with the view from the street. Decide what a passer-by should notice first, whether it is the name, a mascot or what you serve, and size it to read from the sidewalk and the road. Keep key lettering clear of door hardware, mullions and interior fixtures that can block it.

Think about light, too. Glass looks different in morning sun, afternoon glare and at night with the dining room lit, so colors and contrast should hold up in all three. Restaurant window graphics also need to respect any visibility needs inside, such as views to the street from tables or the host stand. Finally, plan for change: graphics can be refreshed for seasons, anniversaries or new menus without touching the building itself.

Five Points South is a walkable district with steady foot traffic, so storefront glass here works hard for a restaurant day and night.
