On April 21, 2016, Black Diamond Designs completed a race car wrap repair for Nissan NISMO Racing at Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Alabama.

The car was the No. 05 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, driven by Bryan Heitkotter in the Pirelli World Challenge. With aggressive aerodynamics, exposed carbon-fiber parts and the red, white and black NISMO livery, this was no ordinary vehicle graphics job. It was a professional race car that needed its look restored before going back on track.

Trackside Work at Barber Motorsports Park

The repair took place at Barber Motorsports Park, 6040 Barber Motorsports Parkway in Leeds, near Birmingham. A race paddock is a very different setting from a graphics shop.

The GT-R’s wide front fenders, sculpted hood, aggressive bumper and aero openings meant every graphic had to line up with the existing design while fitting the bodywork. We brought that installation experience straight to the racing environment for this race car wrap repair.

Repairs like this are about matching what is already there. New graphics have to line up with the surrounding livery, sponsor placements have to stay where teams and partners expect them, and the finished panel should be indistinguishable from the rest of the car when it rolls back out of the garage.
